Safety
Safety is one of the most important aspects of firearms training. Don't even think about using a firearm before you have attended a firearms safety class. Classes are available in almost any community, provided at gun clubs, commercial firearms ranges or police departments. Remember that accidents with firearms can be fatal, so always use caution.
The ShootingPartner system can help shooters improve their skills, but safety must always be kept in mind. The following are some important tips for those using the ShootingPartner system:
- Use the ShootingPartner system AS INSTRUCTED. Your ShootingPartner was carefully designed with safety in mind. Once you receive it, though, you are responsible for using it correctly in order to enjoy the full benefits of this safety-inspired design.
- If you are not using the ShootingParnter on a specially constructed firearms range, be conscious of your environment. Always use an adequate backstop such as a high sandy or soft soil bank to avoid ricochets and eliminate the dangers of stray bullets. Make sure that you choose a location where no person or animal can wander unnoticed between the target and the backstop.
- Build a barrier in front of the metal part of the target system frame using earth or sandbags to prevent ricochets and protect the target frame from damage. Your target system has been designed with a low profile to reduce the possibility of accidental hits on this part of the target. However, anyone can be unlucky and produce a misplaced shot.
- Keep all target equipment such as batteries, air tanks and control units away from the target area to prevent damaging your equipment. A pierced air tank could explode violently injuring yourself or bystanders.
- Do not put the control unit in a position that could cause users to cross the field of fire to operate it.
- Make sure that everyone is standing clear of the targets while you are using the control unit. This will ensure that no one is injured by target frame rotation.
- Use the ShootingPartner according to your skill level. The ShootingPartner target is designed to allow progressive improvements in shooting skills, so master the easier tasks before you try advanced training. This will also ensure that your training will be successful.
- Use common sense. The majority of accidents can be avoided simply by thinking before you act.
